The end of Harry the Hornet

One person who will be happy to see the back of Watford mascot Harry the Hornet is Crystal Palace’s Wilf Zaha. Zaha who has been given rough treatment by Watford fans ever since his pace caused the Watford defender Foristieri to bring him down for the winning penalty in the p[lay off final between the teams was mocked by the mascot at Vicarage Road.

Now the mascot has resigned. No reason has been given but away fans will no doubt be happy to see the back of his attention seeking antics from joining in with player celebrations, doing mock warm ups before the match, mocking opposition players and banging his drum to try to kick start the apathetic Vicarage Road crowd. While a mascot is great for the pre-match entertainment “Harry” seemed to think that he was an important part of the main event.

In a tweet that you would have thought came from an important player at the club he says “I have officially stepped away from being the match day mascot at #watfordfc my decision, proud of what I have achieved, the memories made and the experiences I’ve had – I was privileged and now heavy hearted also. Love you Harry!”

So what have you achieved Harry that you are so proud of? Did you single handedly steer the club to promotion? What will they do without you?
